Our Team

At Koch Richard we are proud of our excellent team of professionals who are willing to meet your translation requirements. This team is run by Jean Pierre Koch.

Jean Pierre Koch

holds an LL.B. from Université de Montréal (1997). He has vast experience in legal, financial, real estate and banking translation from English into French and from French into English. He was operations manager at translation firm Arnaud Bridger in Montreal, where he was also head reviser, and founded Koch Richard in 2002. Jean Pierre worked from 1993 to 1997 at the Centre de recherche en droit public, under the direction of Professor Andrée Lajoie, where he was involved in two research projects, one concerning fuzzy concepts in judicial decisions, and the other a comparative analysis of the Canadian, Quebec and Mohawk conceptions of ancestral rights.

He was responsible for conducting interviews in Kahnawake with members of the Band Council and with representatives of three traditionalist groups, and learned their conceptions, their traditions and the Great Law of the Peace in its different versions. He is president of Koch Richard and ensures quality control of most legal translations.

Some achievements:

  • Translation and revision of Tax Court of Canada decisions (2003-2006);
  • Management and revision of all texts for the operations budget 2002-2003 of the Quebec Treasury Board, including regulations;
  • Translation of legal agreements and updates for law firms Ogilvy Renault, McCarthy Tétrault, Borden Ladner Gervais, etc.;
  • Translation and revision of documents totalling hundreds of pages on land title conveyance and real estate fraud for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (adaptation from common law to civil law, coining French terminology, glossary preparation);
  • Translation of federal-provincial agreements;
  • Translation of the Montreal Declaration on Intellectual Disabilities;
  • Translation of the Nunavik Inuit treaty and revision of the Eeyou Istchee treaty for INAC.
